Elvis Presley Quotes
It was about time for us to make an article on quotes from some of the most famous musicians. This time we picked THE Rock and Roll king! We have hand-picked and best Elvis Presley Quotes prepared for you. 🙂
Elvis Presley was born in a not so rich family. His father was working as a truck driver and a sewing machine operator. Needles to say that they lived almost below the line of poverty. Their family was also quite religious.
He sang in his local church on Sundays. His first musical success happened when he was still a young boy. He was 10 years old and he won a singing contest. Elvis started playing guitar at age of 12. That first guitar was a gift from his mother. Interesting thing is that he didn’t know how to read music, and yet he managed to learn how to play basic guitar.
His family moved to Memphis in 1948, where he started attending Humes High School. Elvis graduated in 1953. After high school graduation he got a job as a truck driver, and in the meantime he was taking a course to become an electrician. The man who operated Sun records, Sam Phillips, noticed young Elvis at Memphis Sound Studio, where Elvis was making a record for his mother (at that time making a short record was pretty cheap, so basically anyone could do it) .
Later on, in 1954, Sam Phillips helped Elvis record his very first singles. This was a dawn of new era in music industry. People were shocked when found out that Elvis is in fact white. His music had what they called a “black sound“, a specific mixture of country, gospel, and blues. Those first couple of songs were the introduction for what will later be known as rock n roll. All this followed to people massively buying his records. And that’s how first rock and roll star was born.
After the initial fame Elvis recorded a couple of more hit singles under Sun Records. One of which got him hit no.1 on the Country music singles chart. Fame was doing it’s thing, girls all over the country were going crazy for this new rock star. Elvis Presley was slowly becoming a true American Idol.
Soon after Elvis went on tours in the South. He was performing under the name of “Hillbilly Cat“. His first appearance on national television was on Jackie Gleason’s Stage Show in 1955. His first million-selling single hit was released in 1956. A big career interruption occurred in 1958 when he got called to server the US Army. But that didn’t stop him from making a huge comeback with successful recordings and a career on film.
Sadly, after divorcing his wife Priscilla Presley he developed an addiction towards prescription drugs, and became overweight. This was a solid sign that something is not going well with loved rock star, and it marked a career downfall for Elvis.
Elvis passed away at age of 42. His fans were shocked to say the least. They didn’t expect for that to happen. But never the less most of his true fans stayed loyal to this day. Memory and legend of Elvis Presley is still alive thanks to his huge fan base.
Enough of the biography, now it’s time for some awesome Elvis Presley quotes! I might slip a couple of his famous verses, hope you don’t mind. 🙂 So, have fun and share with any fan/admirer of the Rock n Roll king!
